March- Floral Influences & Inspiration

Floral Influences & Inspirations

March finally has arrived! Spring is in the air and the days are starting to feel longer. Enjoy!

We love finding you fun ways to look at jewelry and its impact on our day-to-day lives!

This year we’ve decided to look at flowers - what flowers are associated with each month and their influences on jewelry.

We hope you have as much fun with this as our previous newsletters and learn some interesting facts along the way!

Thank you for taking this journey with me.

Daffodils

March Brings Daffodils

Daffodil is the only birth flower for March. They ring in the spring which is why they represent hope, new beginnings and prosperity. They can vary a bit in color - with pale yellow, orange and white blooms.

Daffodils symbolize rebirth, new beginnings, hope, joy, and good luck.

Daffodils (also known as Narcissus) are native to Europe, Western Asia and North Africa. They are distinctive in their bright colored, trumpet-shaped blooms that announce the arrival of spring. Because of their stunning beauty, they have been cultivated for thousands of years. The Greeks and Romans used them in making traditional medicine, perfumes and cosmetics.

Did You Know

Narcissus

Narcissus,
is named after the Greek mythological figure who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water. As such Narcissus became the namesake of the flower because of its reflective qualities.

Fun Facts

Always present daffodils in a bunch
Legend says daffodils are associated with cheerfulness. When they are presented to someone as a bunch, it is meant to provide happiness. However, if they are only given as a single flower, it is meant to mean misfortune.

Fun Facts

A daffodil field can bloom for decades
If the conditions are right, a successful daffodil field can bloom for up to 50 years. They need an area with good drainage and sunlight. They also like areas where the grass can be left unmown which is why hillsides and open spaces are popular daffodil spots.

Citrine & Gold

Daffodils make me think of Citrine & Gold – Did you know that the majority of citrines start their lives as amethysts, but are heat treated to turn yellowish, golden or yellowish brown? They are valued for their warm, earthy colors and vibrant sparkle.

Care of Citrine

Amethyst can be cleaned using warm water, dishwashing soap, and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Avoid extremes of temperature.

There are some beautiful Gold and Citrine pieces from my collection and the Fabio Angri Collections on my website.
